SAN FRANCISCO - by Doãn Ti Nô

Vietnam is my old home country and I have traveled to a lot of different places there. Now I move to the America. I have visited San Antonio in Texas. Then, my latest trip was to San Francisco city.

There are a few things that make this city famous. The first one is the Golden Gate Bridge. This bridge is one of the world’s best constructions that were built by the humans. The bridge was designed to be hanging by huge steel wires. There are two big wires to hold hundreds of smaller wires, and these smaller wires will carry the bridge. The big wire is actually composed by twenty-seven really small steel wires, so it will have the strength to hold nearly over a million ton bridge. The bridge was built on the ocean port so there are a lot of fish down there below. Underneath the bridge is an old military air, now, it is just a tourist’s museum. Standing on the bridge, you can actually see the famous Alcatraz prison. It is impossible to escape from this prison. The water is bitterly cold and there are sharks in the water. Not to mention the security in that place. The funny thing here is in the X-Men movie that I watched. The bad guys moved Golden Gate Bridge using their metal controlling power and made the bridge their one way ticket to Alcatraz. Alcatraz in reality was a prison in the past, but the government rebuilt it for tourists to visit. You might think that it would take future technologies to build this bridge, and then you are wrong. This bridge was built in the late 1930s, when human technologies were still poor.

The next stop I visited was downtown San Francisco. My dad’s fried drove around to sightsee the city. The roads in this city were built on hills so we went up and down all the time. We came through the world’s most famous street: Lombard Street. The street went swirling down the hill like a roller coaster tracks, so it took pretty good driving skill to drive down this road. We visited China town to have lunch. The Chinese people built China Town when they came to the America in the gold rush. They built their settlement in San Francisco. And because of Asian people, Californian population became big enough to be accepted as a state. China town really did give me back the old Vietnamese city’s atmospheres. Streets with houses built right near each others, feels just like home. Then we visited the bay with its tourists and fishing ports. From the tourists’ ports, tours are given to the Alcatraz prison.

San Francisco city is awesome. It was a shame that we only had a little time to visit the city. In the future, I will return to visit and to take a closer look at this city.
