VENICE and MUNICH - mama Thanh Doan

 Hi kids

They say 'to see Venice and die'... (happy, I presume :)  Well, this is the 2nd time we saw La Serenissima, and we were happy, sort of ..., sightseeing in the 37C+ heat.  Venice is still fascinating, even in her state of perpetual decay.  But this time there were a lot of scaffoldings around, so mama hope that the authorities are going to repair and restore the old lady for good !!!  I don't know why it took them so long to start, with all the money they got the tourists thronging like crazy everywhere ...
This time mama & bố got a gondola ride which we missed last visit.  It was nice enough, but a bit overrated as the water in the canal stank a bit in the heat,  and no singing from the gondolier :( :(  We had dinner near the Rialto bridge, recommended by the tour guide for good seafood.    Bố tried for the first time squid ink spaghetti, and a mixed seafood plate (prawns, squid, octopus ect...) and mama played safe with cotoletta!  All very nice...
After that we had to get back to Piazza Roma, the bus interchange, to go back to the hotel.  We got lost again, like the 1st time 4 years back - in spite of mama's excellent sense of direction :) :)  Scary scary experience, as the lane ways of Venice are like a maze, narrowing, or ending abruptly at will.  And the direction signs are not helping at all, sometimes pointing up and down confusingly... But at last we were back safely at the hotel, thanks to mama's wild gesturing & italian speaking to the locals, ha ha ...
Munich is ... german, ordely, neat, so to say, and not without it's own charm.  The tour organised dinner for that night, and fed us sausages!!!  So bố had no opportunity to chase after the authentic pork knuckle of his dream :)  but the german beer made up for it :) :)  Actually bố had a show down at gulping a 1 litre stein with another old guy from the group - he won, but both of them nearly burst at the seams, and are still recovering from it today ...
No photos ready yet, mama try to do it next time.

Lots of love, mama
