The photo’s Huong placed on the blog are made when I made a walk very near to where I live. The photo’s show how the area near to Maastricht is not how the most of Holland is, The Netherlands means low land, as most of The Netherlands is, over here it is not.
There are hills, small, but for the Dutch the area of Maastricht is a bit ‘abroad‘ as it is different from the rest of the country. There are some vinyards. On some places crosses are placed in the countryside.
But also it is a residential area, small villages in the past, now incorporated in the city. I used to live on the other side of Maastricht. Now I ’discover’ this side of Maastricht and I was surprised myself , even after living here for a lot of years now

Thank you for your explanation, Alouis. I was admiring those photos, rolling hills with wandering sheep, very peaceful, very much like Australia, except for those houses with sharp angle roof, which is very European :) What the cross is for? Marking church land or a graveyard? I love everything old and antique, old houses, old castles etc... that's why I so admire Europe in general. My husband and I we are saving for a trip starting in Amsterdam and ending in Budapest :) so in a near future we'll meet again :):)
U'tttt, Those photos look so peacefull ... Apparently there is a famous network of underground passageways in Maastricht. When will HNHD have the opportunity to hang around there, U't ???

Hi Alouis, I believe you caught the inner beauty of the Old World. I love every detail of the pictures and start dreaming of walking on a European winding road one day. I am so glad you discovered something new in a familiar environment. That is the award for the exploring mind of yours. More pictures, please, whenever you can.
I'm surprised by the comments on the photo's I took when walking in the area. I took the photo's to inform Huong on what I saw while walking. But apparently more persons like this area like I do and I know Huong likes as well. Just ask her about the coffee place just across the border in Belgium or the little lock a bit further on the way to Liege, the large stairs in Liege, etceteras.
