Eten en foto's maken

Guess what kind of special late-night food I was served
at a decent but crowded local restaurant in Phan Thiet last July '07 !

First, the waiter served me a bowl of nước mắm

in which floating ground pork and some tót mỡ -fried fat …

Then he brought me some extra star fruits and eggs
(we can choose either trứng gà, trứng vịt or trứng cút)

And … finally .. came the hero of the dish : bánh căn !

Let's have a look at the way người ta đổ bánh căn :

.. pouring a kind of ground rice mixed with water,
into specially molded ceramic dish ...

Then adding into the batter some eggs and cutted green onion...

... cooking over the charcoal for less than one minute.

He's right : I did enjoy both taking photos and eating this "light and airy" bánh căn, going so well with the sourness of green starfruit & the "bùi" of eggs and meat, served with nước mắm chua chua ngọt ngọt cay cay ...
