WHAT I SAW TODAY - A.S

Dear Huong,

Here some of the photo's I took today while walking just across the border in the French speaking part of Belgium. As I already told you the caves in Belgium are not shut by gates, only a old sign mentioning that it is very dangerous to enter the cave, but that is all. Some of the caves are used as stable for the sheep that in other periods of the year graze here. I only saw some wooden sheep placed there with information of the area. I saw a few live animals, two deer running away through the forest. Some comics were along the path as well. Also a place to dump garbage. And some great views as there was some difference in height.

MARITIME MUSEUM OF SAN DIEGO

No single building contains the Maritime Museum of San Diego; rather, its hands-on historians specialize in restoring, maintaining, and operating vessels of historical significance. The fleet is vast and varied, ranging from the Star of India, a 19th-century bark that serves as the museum's oldest active ship, to a B-39 Russian submarine. They are even building an accurate replica of the San Salvador, a Spanish galleon that was the first European vessel to reach the West Coast. Complementing the ships is the museum's permanent collection of artifacts, which display maritime traditions throughout the ages.

During its years of operation—including a decade as the largest ship ever commissioned—the aircraft carrier had around 225,000 sailors serve above and below its decks. Today, it takes up permanent residence in San Diego's harbor, where it lets visitors walk in the boots of sailors and pilots from World War II up to Operation Desert Storm.
